Swansea City are determined to carry Wining Momentum

After winning three out of the last five matches in the league, Swansea City are determined to carry on the momentum in the next league match against Chelsea according to midfielder Jack Cork.

The match represents a game against his former club for the 26-year-old. He came through the ranks at Chelsea before being let go after being deemed not good enough for the top division. However, Cork has been an influential player at the likes of Southampton, Aston Villa, and now, Swansea. He is determined to prove that Chelsea were wrong in their judgement.

Cork refused to stop talking about relegation battle until the club are mathematically safe. Realistically, Swansea will feel that they have achieved safety if they reach the 40-point mark and they are currently three points below this target. Another victory from the remaining six matches will be enough to see their league status maintained for the campaign. It was only recently that the club were only a few points above the drop zone. Following the wins over Norwich, Arsenal, and Aston Villa, they have managed to put a sizeable 10-point advantage. This weekend’s opponents, Chelsea, have recovered from their early season struggles and are currently on the longest unbeaten run in the league.

Even then, Cork is confident of taking something out of the game.”We’ve had some great results and it would be a shame if we finished the season slowly. We need to carry on this momentum and try and get a few more points on the board.I wouldn’t say we’re safe because mathematically we’re not.But we’re in a good position at the minute and we’ve worked hard over the last few weeks. We normally do OK against the bigger teams and against Arsenal we had nothing to fear,” said Cork.
