Swansea City wingback Ethan Laird believes that the Welsh club has the capacity to be the one of the best teams in the English Championship. The Manchester United loanee made this known in an interview with the official website of Swansea City. Laird is on a season-long loan at the Championship club from Premier League heavyweight Manchester United having joined the Swans at the start of the season.
The Manchester United loanee is not new to the coaching methods of Swansea City manager Russell Martin having played for him at MK Dons in League One last season. Laird has been able to make the step up from League One football to Championship football.
Swansea City were in the Championship playoffs final last season, but they have not been able to hit the heights this season under the aforementioned Martin. Martin was the man appointed as the new Swansea City manager in the place of Steve Cooper who left the role at the start of the season. Cooper had masterminded their run to the playoffs final last season before they missed out on Premier League football via the 2-0 loss to West London team Brentford.
The Swans are currently in 16th spot on the Championship table after playing 22 matches. They are eight points off the relegation zone and eight points off the top six which will guarantee a place in the playoffs at least.
Manchester United loaneeLaird said that Martin has implemented a playing style at the Liberty Stadium and that no other team play the way they play. The 20-year-old believes that the Swans are on the way to becoming the full package.
